Nearly exactly one year ago, we had just finished our medications...our stims and we anxiously awaited what was to come...
On January 25, we traveled down to Chicago for our EGG RETRIEVAL where they expected to retrieve 6 eggs, but instead got 19!!!!!!!!!!!! One year ago our baby boys began their lives, and we got to watch them! Wow.
On January 26, we found out that 12 of those 19 fertilized...a true miracle!
And on January 30, one year ago, we transferred these, later to be known as Evan and Alec, into my uterus...

Wow...one year ago. Amazing.
Okay okay. Moment finished. FF to today!
I call this phase of our life..."operation night wean". Wean from eating? Nope. Wean from their sleeping contraptions. If you have missed it Evan adores the swing. Maybe adoration is an understatement. I do believe if he was a bit older, he'd wish to date her. In fact, he looks longingly at the shiny blue mass of moving goodness, and when placed into his first love, he turns his face into the side of her with sheer happiness. Then, you shut your sweet little blue eyes and purse out your lips and snuggle into a blissful sleep. Whoahhhhhhhhhhh boy does he love that thing.
Then there is Alec. Alec, meet the bouncie seat. Oh, wait...you HAVE already met. As you are placed into her loving nestle, you kick your legs and flail your arms so happily. You love to feel her vibrate your sweet little piggie toes and your booty, and you slip ever so sweetly and quickly into sleepy dream land.
So, their love affairs with their contraptions has been a wonderful nighttime love affair for us as well because it means SLEEP, blissful, heavenly, lovely SLEEP. And, well, if you've tried to sleep train your baby before, you know how wonderful sleep in any capacity is. Remember hearing those little baby grunts, and flying out of bed with worry that they're not breathing? Or, hearing them cry and needing to force yourself out of bed to feed baby? Or, JUST beginning to fall asleep again, and the ever familiar fussing begins, causing you to get up again to soothe baby? OR...maybe...your baby is a nuk baby (like our Alec), and wakes up and cranks until you plug him (or her!) back up, but again, causing you to get out of your nice warm slumber to help. And well, double it, and we are just plain old happy to find several hours of sleep time. So, as a result, we have allowed them to sleep in their contraptions...day and night...And truthfully...not really cared!
But alas, the time should probabably soon for us to work on transitioning them to their cribs. There are three problems with this:
(1) They are used to their contraptions
(2) Their cribs are in their room and Mommy loves having them close :D
(3) Alec wakes fairly regularly the second half of the night for "nuking" and it'll be a long haul accross the house to nuk him, rather than walking 4 feet to him, is not appealing.
So, we can't do anything about number 2...heheehehe. Momma just loves having them near. And, well, number 3 will definately suck. Curt says that he'll just feed him sooner, rather than nuking him to try and push him through the night, so he'll go back to sleep more quickly, and back in his bed. I say CURT will feed, because when the boys wake up at night, I get up to pump. So that leaves feeding to Daddio, so sort of equalize time spent awake.
But, "Operation Night Wean" as I've coined it, is defined as the process by which we get them out of their contraptions at night, and sleeping on a FLAT surface. So...Step 1 is to get them to sleep WITH their contraptions ON. Step 2 is to turn OFF the contraptions, so that they get used to sleeping WITHOUT the blissful swinging or vibrating. Step 3 is eventually to get them into their bed. We are currently on Step 2. And really, they do relatively well.
Ahhh.......and as predicted...both boys are now crying, and Olivia needs to get to bed....but....
in the interest of time, we are starting to THINK about moving them...or trying it. That is...if mommy can let go a little....ahhahahahhhaa.
